Katikati’s 150th Anniversary
Katikati is recognising the 150th Anniversary of the arrival of Ulster Irish settlers in 1875. Travelling from County Tyrone, they arrived at the Landing on Uretara Stream on 16th September.
The Anniversary will be held on the weekend of 12th – 14th September 2025; the theme is “Travel Through Time” with events focused on the town’s history, the present and the future.
Anniversary Events
The celebrations extend across the weekend with a variety of activities for everyone. Look forward to an evening of Irish folk music, a lively opening event with local entertainment, markets, and displays.
There will also be a rugby festival showcasing invitation teams, a fun Settlers’ Dance encouraging period dress, and Sunday events offering traditional hospitality and an opportunity for reflection on Katikati’s settler history.
